Personalised Learning Plans

Teachers use the Australian Curriculum to develop teaching and learning programs that build on students’ interests, strengths, goals and learning needs, and address the cognitive, affective, physical, social and aesthetic needs of all students.

The relationship between the three dimensions (learning areas, general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities) provides teachers with flexibility to cater for student diversity through personalised learning.

It is suggested that a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) is developed for:
  • Students with a Disability (verified) – mandatory (SWD)
  • Students with English as an additional Language/Dialect who requires ESL tuition. In this way schools have documented evidence of adjustments, following consultation and collaboration with parents/carers and the Diverse Learner Team, to meet the State Census funding requirements.
  • Students identified as requiring adjustments through the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). In most cases these students would only require Section One of the PLP. In this way schools have documented evidence of adjustments following consultation and collaboration with parents/carers and the Diverse Learner Team.
  • Any student classified as a ‘New Arrival’ with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)
  • A student identified as a High Potential Learner i.e. working above their age appropriate level
  • Students in out-of-home care
  • Any student (not identified above) who is having difficulty in one or more areas and their progress is being monitored as universal intervention has been unsuccessful.
