Language for Expressing Ideas
Some teachers in the Cairns Diocese had the privilege of attending a whole day workshop with Beverley. During the workshop Beverley explored the need to explicitly teach Grammar and that the only way to effectively do so is through reading and writing.
Very practical ideas that can be taken back to classrooms straight away.
How great to have someone with expertise like Beverley here in Cairns.
Engaging all day!
Video clips great to link with everyday classroom experiences.
Reinforced notion of 'whole school' approach to the teaching of grammar.
Wonderful opportunity - THANK YOU
Today made a lot of sense to me and I actually feel much more confident in my own knowledge regarding grammar. I love the idea of grammar being a ‘tool' or ‘resource' for exploring language and making meaning. Thinking about it like that makes it much less daunting. I am excited to try out a few of the activities shown today with my students. I am looking forward to seeing them have fun with their writing and the excitement on their faces when they realise what a fantastic sentence they have been able to create.
Thank you Bev for such an interesting and practical workshop!
